Product Information

Deactivated WWII Japanese Arisaka Type 38 rifle with its original bolt and dust cover. Manufactured by the Koshikawa arsenal, Tokyo it dates to 1925 production. Matching numbers including the bolt. Still present is the original chrysanthemum with 16 petals (the symbol of the Japanese Emperor), This symbol was often removed on rifles which were surrendered after the war, apparently as a face-saving gesture. Rifles that were captured in the field normally have the chrysanthemum symbol intact. The dust covers were often taken off and discarded, due to rattling whilst the rifle was being used, giving away the soldiers position. The Type 38 rifle was designed in the 38th year of the reign of Emperor Meiji (1905) and was used by Japanese forces during WWII. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
