Product Information

An original condition WWII Japanese Arisaka Type 99 long rifle with matching bolt and bolt cover. Visually it is very similar to the Type 38 and shares many of the same features and parts. It has an exposed section of barrel between the fore and rear sight sections of the wood work. The foresight has twin protective blades; used on this model, and cupped but plate. The anti- aircraft sights and monopod legs were ditched. These features were introduced during the war as materials became scarce and in an attempt to speed up production.

One specific feature was the sliding bolt cover, which protected the receiver openings from harsh pacific climate. It proved to be a hindrance and often would give away the user position to US troops, as it rattled when the bolt was operated. Not surprisingly, many soldiers removed these covers from their rifles, however this example still has one. It also has the chrysanthemum  on the receiver which were often group off. The stock was a two piece construction, as pictured and it has the correct cleaning rod fitted.

Deactivated with a working pump action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.

This item is unaffected by the new EU deactivation specifications.
