Product Information

A WWII Japanese Arisaka Type 38 Rifle, manufactured by the Kokura Arsenal. One specific feature of type 38 was the sliding bolt cover, which protected the receiver openings from harsh pacific climate. It proved to be a hindrance and often would give away the user position to US troops, as it rattled when the bolt was operated. Not surprisingly, many soldiers removed these covers from their rifles. The chrysanthemum was often ground off on rifles that were surrendered, apparently as a face-saving gesture. Rifles captured in the field, however, normally have the chrysanthemum symbol intact. The stock was a two piece construction, as pictured. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
