Product Information

Rare WWII Sauer manufactured MP44/Stg44 assault rifle. Sauer made by far the fewest MP44's of the four makers during WWII, only producing around 55,000. This figure includes the MP43, MP44 & STG44 models. The serial number 8949ae/45 dates to 1945, with only Sauer being allocated the letter suffix "ae" to be used in there serial number blocks. Underneath the receiver it is correctly marked cos / WaAA44 (Merz Werke), ce (Sauer), WaA37 (Haenel/Sauer) and a Nazi-eagle (German army proof). The initials "ce" is the Sauer manufacturer mark and is only found on their MP44's. It retains its original wartime finish and all visible numbers are matched.

The MP44 uses the 7.92 Kurtz (short) cartridge and was made from stamped parts making it relatively quick and cheap to make. The MP44 was only in production for just a few years at the end of the war, including the Mkb42, MP43,MP44 & StG44 variants around 440,000 were every made with vast majority being destroyed during or after the war. This innovative weapon inspired today's assault rifles, for example the Kalashnikov AK47 was based on this weapon. The STG 44 or MP 44 was mainly issued to elite frontline Waffen-SS Panzer grenadier Divisions. Deactivated to current specifications with tensioned cocking lever and trigger and working safety and sector button.
