Product Information

A late WWII Nambu Type 14 pistol. The type 14 was designed by Japanese general Kijiro Nambu in 1925 (14th year of the Taisho emperor, hence the official designation). It was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army and used widely throughout the Second World War, and was the standard issue Army sidearm. The year of manufacture is; 19.11 which translates to November 1944. This example differs from any other example we have seen and has an unusual slot in the top of the receiver. This is a very seldom-seen military form of equivalent deactivation which was used on items that were taken home from the field, before a comprehensive system of deactivation had been established. The armourer's cut on the receiver rendered it incapable of firing, and the firing pin was removed. It was also visually obvious should anyone try to fire the pistol. This armours cut can sometimes be seen on very old military Martini Henry rifles. Deactivated to old specifications with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
