This is a rare Second World War Steyr-Daimler-Puch (660 coded) G29/40 (K98k) dated 1940 fitted with 1939 dated and correctly coded barrel. These rifles were originally made by the Polish company FB Radom in the 1930's and called the Wz29. In 1939 Germany invaded and took over control of the factory and manufacturing. Germany utilised the captured receivers, partially finished parts etc, and sent them to Steyr for final assembly. This assembly first occurred in 1940, when the fewest were assembled. They restocked them and adding their own designation stamps then reissued these rifles to their own troops. A total of around 54,000 were made and with vast majority produced in 1941. This example is from only the second batch and has an "A" suffix serial number. Very few of these early carbines exist as most were captured, destroyed or broken up after the war. Correctly stamped four times on the receiver ring with Waffen code WaA623. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. Comes fitted with cleaning rod and reproduction leather sling.
