This is a Second World War Nazi Walther PPK. The serial number dates to 1941 and falls into the known range for SS issued PPK's. The complete lower section and barrel of this pistol are wartime, however the slide has been replaced with a post war example. One of the most probable explanation for this is the slide was damaged and a replacement was fitted sometime after the war. During the latter stages of WW2 German officers and soldiers that were found to be SS were often singled out for very harsh treatment by Allied and resistance groups. This PPK would have been a good indication of seniority so deposing of it was a good idea.
