This is a Beretta 38/A44 Submachine Gun, chambered in 9mm with correct 40 round stick magazine, and is one of only 500 produced with a bayonet lug. It has a distinctive slot cut in the under side, at the end of the fore grip to accommodate bayonet when not in use. This superbly engineered weapon has two triggers, one for fully automatic fire and the other for single shot. During WWII production it was issued to Italian, German and Romanian troops across various fronts.
