Deactivated Kalashnikov AK74 with matching numbers. The 74 is basically a modern updated version of the iconic AK47. The old fashioned wood work was replaced with durable synthetic plastic as was the magazine. The calibre was changed to 5.56mm from 7.62mm. These design changes along some others made it a more accurate and user friendly weapon. This one is stamped BNP - British Nitro Proof and would have been imported for use by the British military only as no other Government of non Government agency is permitted to hold fully automatic weapons in the UK. Rarely seen in old spec form it was deactivated in 1995 with a working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
