This is a Russian RPD light machine gun, with drum magazine, belt and 7.62mm inert rounds. RPD is an abbreviation for Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova, translated: Degtyaryov hand-held machine gun. It is superbly designed and dependable weapon firing the same ammunition as the AK47. Originally conceived and designed in 1944, the RPD replaced the DP light machine gun and saw action in many conflicts including Korea and Vietnan, with many are still in service today. A great display item.
