This is a very rare Sterling Armament Company produced SMG for the British MOD. Sterling Armament's only produced approximately 16,000 military contracted L2A3 submachine guns between 1956 and 1959. This example is dated 1958. Note the serial number starts US, this is only found on Sterling manufactured examples. The numbers "58" are the date of manufacture followed by A5649 which is the serial number. CR 53 GA is the Ministry of Supply part number for the entire gun. It retains much of its original military finish and is fitted with the correct period sling and 1958 dated magazine.
