This is a rare Belgian made FN FAL trials rifle that was produced for evaluation by the Swedish army. From 1960 to 1964 the Swedish army trialed various models of automatic rifles including the FN FAL to replace its aging military bolt action rifles. The overall design of this model is identical to the standard military FAL rifles, with the most obvious visual difference being the top cover with a provision for stripper clip loading. The receiver bears the Swedish crest and date of 1959 and has matching serial numbers to receiver and barrel. An unusual variant of the now legendary FAL (SLR) series of battle rifles. Deactivated to current specifications with moving bolt carrier, trigger and sective fire lever.
