This is a rare International Harvester Co. made US military issued M1 Garand rifle. I.H.C. only made two batches of the M1 Garand from 1953 to 1955 producing just 337,744 rifles. The serial numbers of this rifles is from the first batch used in 1953 to 1954, the serial numbers ran from 4,400,000 to 4,660,000. The date code on the barrel confirms that this. Although closely associated with US infantry units from WWII, the M1 continued in service with the US for many years and being used in post WWII conflicts. Deactivated to currents specifications with tensioned cocking lever, moving trigger and working safety.
