Deactivated Regimentally marked 1911 Luger by Erfurt This is a very early gun almost certainly made in the first two months of manufacture. 1911 was the first year of manufacture of the Luger by Erfurt only about 10,000 were manufactured in this year and this example is number 3772 all matching serial numbers apart from the magazine which is the correct type with its wooden base.
Regimental marks for the 17th Dragoons, this was a cavalry regiment. It was after the first world war refinished and reissued to the German police as the markings show. it is marked S I and the D 17 marks have been crossed through.
Note the lack of a shoulder stock lug at the rear of the grip, this feature was added later. The gun itself is a lovely example with good clear markings and despite its age an excellent crisp action.
A real must have item for the Luger collector.
