Mle1874 Gras M80

The Mle1874 Gras (named after it's designer, Artillery Captain Basile Gras) is basically a conversion of the Mle1866 Chassepot, a needle fire weapon, to the metallic cartridge. This example is marked "M80" that signifies that it has been modified to allow gas from a ruptured cartridge to escape by cutting channels in the breech. This is an obsolete calibre weapon and so is not deactivated.
