An 1865 Tower, two band, percussion musket. Marked on the barrel with the initials "JS". These initials were used on weapons that were ordered by the US Confederate arm during the US Civil War (1861-1865). Having completely dismantled the gun we then discovered that the under side of the barrel bears more markings and angled groves or Roman numerals. This type of marking system was used during the war and was made by the armorers when building these types of muskets. The top of the barrel is marked "96" with various British proof stamps. The action is still very crisp and locks back on both half and full cock positions. This musket is an antique and can be owned completely live without any form of license.
