This is a very rare Steyr Mannlicher M1896 Cavalry carbine, chambered in 6.5 x 53R mm. It is one of only 4,200 M1896 cavalry carbines made by Steyr for the Portuguese military. The receiver bears the markings of Portugal's King Carlos I and the Royal Crest. Just visible on the stock are the regiment markings. This carbines serial number is 614 and is without any letter prefix or suffix, meaning it is carbine number 614th. The bore is still in very good condition and it has its original cleaning rod. A superb looking little carbine of which very few are ever seen. An FAC with the correct variation is required to purchase this carbine.
