Obsolete Calibre Enfield Martini Henry .577/450 MKIV (4) Under Lever Rifle dated 1887 with broad arrow and War Department stamps. Introduction in 1885, this model was fitted with a "long lever" to provided greater leverage for case extraction. On the stock are various dates and carcouches with the Enfield Roundel and year stamp of 1908. The MK4 was the mainstream rifle of the British army until the introduction of the .303 cartridge. These rifles were then distributed amongst various armies and colonial forces of the British Empire. Note the armorers repair to the wood work around the lever socket. The bore is in superb condition with strong rifling throughout. This historic British rifle can be owned live without any form of license and is chambered in an obsolete calibre. It has a full working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. Comes with an original cleaning rod.
