Very Rare WWI Schermuly Flare Pistols

Very Rare WWI Schermuly Flare Pistols

Product Information

This is a pair of extremely rare WWI Schermuly flare pistols fitted with extra long barrel extensions. The design is based on the WWI Webley MKIII* brass flare pistols of the same period however, this pair have much longer barrel extensions measuring 6.5 inches with the overall barrel length being 9 inches. We believe they were made this particular length specifically for the Royal Navy, as the increased barrel length gave a much greater range when firing flares at sea and also made it easier to hold whilst aboard a moving ship. During WWI & WWII the Royal Navy would fire flares high into the sky at night whilst patrolling for German U-Boats. Both pistols have relatively low serial numbers one of which is just 910. They have the correct wartime period British proofs and Schermuly Patents 179997. Both are still in fabulous condition and in perfect working order.

Both pistols are currently live having only just been discovered. They can be purchased on a firearms license with the correct variation or deactivated to order with a full working action (cock, strip and dry fire).

*********Please note serial number 910 has now sold *************
