Product Information

This is a very rare and complete Second World War German G33/40 carbine. Correctly stamped with Waffenamt WaA63 and fitted with an original bolt. The G33/40 was only in production for three years during WWII, 1940 to 1942. It was first adopted in October 1940 by the German Army and issued to German Mountain troops (Gebirgsjager), this was because its was shorter and lighter than the standard K98 configuration. Although chambering the same 7.92mm round as the K98 it is very different and has a metal plate on the left rear side of the butt stock. This was to protect it from damage in the field when being used as an Alpenstock or climbing aid. It is also much shorter with different wood work, rear sight and barrel bands. The bolt is lightened and has a drop down lever. The known serial number range for the 1940 dated “945” coded G33/40 is from 93 to 7135d, with an estimated production of only 40,000. This example is serial number 282d from that batch. The wood is the original and is numbered to the receivers. G33/40s did not have all numbered parts like standard K98s, in fact most parts were not numbered at all. At some stage this one was captured by the Norwegians who then issued to their police and marked it Politi weapon number 2327. This itself is a rare mark to find but even rarer on a G33/40. This incredible example has just been imported by us and is brand new to the UK. It is still live and in super original condition throughout. You are unlikely to see another!! An FAC with the correct variation is required to purchase this rifle.

We believe that this particular G33/40 is possibly one of only a few, if not the only one of its type in the UK. Very few were originally issued to the Norwegian police and those that were, were either destroyed by the Norwegian Government as part of its non proliferation agreement or have remained in Norway.

Please note, that this carbine has remained in its original calibre (German 7.92mm) with its original barrel and has just passed UK proof (BNP) and is ready to shoot!!! The Norwegian Police were the only Norwegian armed force to keep their captured K98s in the original calibre(s).
