Product Information

This is an extensively stamped 1907 Pattern SMLE bayonet with scabbard. Manufactured by Sanderson for the First World War, it was first issued in June 1917, the date stamp "6 17" is just visible. The clearance hole in the pommel was first introduced in early 1916. The Pommel is also regimentally marked to what appears to be the Royal Engineers "R E". 25 refers to the weapon number. Post WW1 it was issued and restamped several times with date stamps of 1921 and 1936 the most obvious. The grips are also marked with the initials "S H" , this is an abbreviation for The Kings Shropshire Infantry. It is extremely rare to find a bayonet with so many of these markings.
