An 1856 Pattern British pioneers sword with saw edge . It has the date stamp of August 1894 (8' 94) above the makers name Wilkinson London. On the other side of the blade are the British War Department, inspectors, Broad Arrow and bend stamps. On the brass hand guard are the initials 3. 95 2.GR 9 - March 1895, 2nd Gloucester Regiment, weapon number 9. This regiment saw active service in the Second Boer War and the First & Second World Wars.
