This is a Boer War era Long Lee/Metford Rifle, Pattern 1888 Bayonet & Scabbard. Dated August 1896 (8'96) it was was made by Mole with War Department and broad arrow acceptance stamps. This is the early pattern design with brass riveted handle and hole drilled through above the first brass rivet.
