A very unusual Martini Henry socket bayonet that has been shortened and converted into a fighting knife, with a wooden handle added where it would normally locate onto the rifle. The blade measures 8inches in length. Utilising a damaged bayonet a field armourer would modify at the request of a soldier. During close quarters engagements this would have been a fairly potent weapon.
