Product Information

This is a WWII dated British 2 inch practice mortar round. Stamped WSSM 1/43 (January 1943). They were used to practice live firing. Filled with sand they are built to simulate the flight of HE rounds. It has a hole through the sides and a threaded hole in the nose to screw on the removeable safety cap.The red band indicates that a live propelling cartridge is used and the yellow band indicates "practice". This one was later upgraded in the 1950s with steel fins. The original zinc ally fins were weaker and prone to split, causing the bomb to fall short. This one would have been used for training troops during and after the war.
