This is a superb original WWII British No77 Phosphorus hand grenade. The No77 was first introduced in early 1943, containing a phosphorus filling it was originally it was intended for signaling and screening purposes but found greater battlefield value as an anti-personnel / incendiary weapon. It contained 8 ounces of White Phosphorus filling, with an impact fuze. The detonator bursts the grenade, scattering the contents which spontaneously ignites on contact with air. This great example dates to late 1944 and has its correct parts and painted finish that are all correctly marked and dated.
