Product Information

This is a Long Lee/Metford Rifle Pattern 1888 Bayonet & Scabbard dated April 1894 (4'94), War Department and broad arrow marked. The bayonet is also stamped 09 (1909) with the Enfield inspectors stamps. This is an early pattern design with brass riveted handle and a hole drilled through above the first brass rivet. It is regimentally stamped on the pommel with the initials 2 KOM = 2nd Kings Own Malta Regiment. The regiment was renamed the "King's Own Royal Malta Regiment of Militia" in 1903, and was disbanded in 1921. The regiment was raised again in 1931 as the "King's Own Malta Regiment". The leather scabbard is fitted with an original frog with belt attachment.
