Very rarely seen, an original unmodified pre German invasion Polish WZ29 Bayonet & Scabbard with brown leather frog. The vast majority were captured and modified by the German's to fit their K98s and captured Polish rifles. The German's cut off the barrel hoop on the cross guard to make fitment easier on the K98 and modified WZ29 (G29/40). The Russian's also captured quantities and renumbered them. The blade is correctly stamped with Radom factory emblem and Polish military acceptance stamp.The cross guard is numbered 4138 F, presumably the Polish weapon or unit numbers it was assigned to. The scabbard still bears remnants of the original military green paint and the frog is stamped with the number 20 on the rear. The Polish army was relatively small in comparison to its neigbouring countries and was quickly overwhelmed by German forces when invaded in 1939. A rare find!!!
