Rare First Year of Production 1907 Pattern SMLE Bayonet & Scabbard Issued to the Kings Liverpool Regiment

This is a rare First Year of Production 1907 Pattern SMLE Bayonet & Scabbard that was issued to The Kings Liverpool Regiment. This bayonet originally had a hooked quillion, but was removed as part the British Armies reworking programme prior to the First World War. It was made by JAC (James A Chapman) in September 1908 (9'08). The pommel has the regiment abbreviation LI - The Kings Liverpool Regiment and weapon number X274. The stiff brown leather scabbard has maker markings although very faint and the chape and locket are both stamped with British inspection stamps.

The Kings Liverpool Regiment saw extensive service in both world wars. 

The 1907 Pattern Bayonet was first approved in January 1908. By 1911 JAC are estimated to have made just 14,200. In 1913 the removal of the quillions implemented.
