Product Information

This is a rare WW1 German Granatenwerfer mortar bomb with brass nose fuse and fragmentation body. This example is unlike any other we have seen before. The body is rounded more like a hand grenade. The flight wings and tail piece are very similar to the standard mortar. This bomb was fired from the portable "Granatenwerfer 16" . Introduced in 1916, this was a German grenade thrower which bridged the gap between hand-thrown grenades and the light mortar. It was small and ideally suited for trench warfare.
