Product Information

This is a very rare matching numbers Boer War era Long Lee/Metford Rifle, Pattern 1888 Bayonet & Scabbard. Dated May 1898 (5'98), with Enfield - "EFD" and War Department broad arrow stamps on bayonet & scabbard. It is an early pattern design with brass riveted handle and hole drilled through above the first brass rivet. Unlike most bayonets of this vintage this one has its original scabbard that has two sets on numbers that are both matched. The original numbers "2665" have been struck out by the Enfield armorer and then replaced by "1546". This would have been done when it returned from service and was then reissued. Accompanying this rare set is an original British issued suede frog with Broad arrow stamp and service number.
