Product Information

This is believed to be a shell fragment from the first bomb to be fired on Paris in 1918. The engraved brass plaque reads "Piece of First Shell (German Bertha) Fired On Paris April 1918". The Bertha gun was a super-heavy howitzer gun developed by Germany to fire huge shells long distances. Thankfully, Germany only managed to make around 12 of these super guns during the Great War. The fragment is mounted on a high quality piece of black ebony with a green felt baise on the base.
