This is rare WWII German MG34 machine gun breech cover. Marked with makers code "bdq" - Ehrhardt u. Kirsten, Koffer- u. Lederwarenfabrik, Leipzig, dated 1943 (43) and Nazi Eagle acceptance stamp. It was referred to as the "Bezug" - Dust Cover and was used whilst the MG34 was being transported by soldiers. The 34 was prone to stoppages if it became contaminated.
