This is a rare Second World War issued Lithgow made 1907 Pattern SMLE bayonet that was issued to The 3rd Military District (Australia). The 3MD covered all of Victoria and that part of New South Wales south of the Murrumbidgee River, with its headquarters at Melbourne. The other numbers refer to a rack or weapon that it was assigned to. These bayonets are rarely encountered outside of Australia. Both bayonet and scabbard are dated 1919.
