This is a rare WW1 trench knife, often referred to as a French Nail. French Nails were locally fabricated and converted bayonets, knives and stabbing weapons for use in the First World War. This is the more refined type 2 displaying a more intricate handle and belt hook than the far cruder original. Exhibiting some fabulous patina, it makes an extremely interesting piece.
