Product Information

An original WWI German Gew98 rifle leather sling. Manufactured by Adalbert Fischer, Berlin C 2, just visible are the initials AW with the dated stamp of 1916. Still in remarkably good original condition with all its stitching and fasteners in tact.

Adalbert Fischer founded a saddlery factory in Guttstadt (a small town in East Prussia; Population (1910): app. 5,000) and became a "königlicher Hoflieferant" (Royal warrant of appointment). In 1905 he moved to Berlin where he established a subsidiary that became the headquarter of his company. They made leather products for the Imperial German army during WWI and for the Nazi's during WWII.
