This is a genuine WWI Prussian contract Mauser C96 shoulder stock / holster. On the latch mechanism at the very tip, just visible is a pin. Also present are the last three digits of the pistol it was issued to "547", as used on military issued stocks. Together with its design features and serialisation we can date this stock to around 1914-18. There looks to be an impact caused by a shrapnel strike.
