Product Information

WWI German Gew 98 rifle Bayonet and metal scabbard Model 1898/05 with leather frog. This is the second pattern model 1898/05 bayonet, with the flash guard along the back of its grips. This was introduced in 1915, known as the S 98/05 nA ("Seitengewehr 98/05 neuer Art," or, Bayonet ‘98/’05 new Pattern) . A lovely example manufactured by Schubert u. Salzer, Maschinenfabrik Chemnitz andis dated 1918 with Imperial markings. On the other side of the blade are the Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen, Foche, who produced them. The leather frog also bears a maker mark which is clearer using an eye glass. With weapon numbers 2224 on the cross guard. As used by German forces during the First World War.
