Product Information

A unique WWI dated German 15cm brass howitzer shell commemorating the Mesopotamia campaign fort during the Great War. The Mesopotamian campaign started in 1914 in the Middle Eastern theatre and continued throughout the war. It was fought between the Allies represented by the British Empire, mostly troops from Britain, the Indian Empire and contingents from Turkey and South Africa against the Central Powers mostly of the Ottoman Empire. This brass shell case has badges or insignia's from some of those allied forces and regiments that were involved in this conflict, they are; Turkish, Australian, Somerset Light Infantry (Jellalabad), Manchester Regiment and South Africa. The German shell is dated June 1916 and would have been picked up from the battlefield.
