Product Information

This is a First World War M1917 Bayonet & Scabbard with leather frog. The bayonet is marked with the US Government flaming grenade and on the reverse Winchester makers mark letter "W" circled and 1917. It is complete with it's original Winchester made stiff leather scabbard and a WWII British made leather frog made by J & A Hillman, Dudley 1940. To the left is a number 8 and broad arrow acceptance stamps. The 1940 dated frog would indicate that this bayonet and scabbard were re-issued to the Home Guard during WWII. They fit the US P17 & UK P14 rifles and were also fitted to combat shotguns during WWI. Only Remington and Winchester manufactured this bayonet with Winchester producing by far the fewest only 225,000, and Remington 1.25 million.
