Product Information

This is an early production Bren gun MKI magazine. The standard MKI Bren magazine was issued and fitted to all Bren's that saw service with BEF (British Expeditionary Force) in 1939-1940 whilst in France.  It was intended to hold 30 rounds, but in reality to prolong spring life only 28 rounds were loaded. This shortcoming was realised after the battle of Dunkirk the MKI magazine was redesigned and then superseded by the MK1*. The MKI magazine has a distinctive folded seams on the front and spine of the magazine. The makers mark is  "M/78" Elkington & Co Birmingham.
