Product Information

A superb condition Second World War German optical rangefinder, model EM34. It was manufactured by Optische Prazisionswerke GmbH, Warsaw, Poland - makers code "eug", who were one of the worlds leaders and makers of such devices. So advanced for the time were the optics that it gave the German's an advantage over Allied forces.  In the hands of well trained soldiers it could almost guarantee a direct hit every time! The EM34 was a portable rangefinder that was used in various rolls, it proved to be very effective and was used extensively by German mobile artillery ground units. This example has good clear optics with its original protective leather eye piece cover and leather end caps. The date codes used were unusual and were not the usual German number coding system.  Optische Prazisionswerke GmbH applied symbols to denote the year of manufacture. The " + "  was only used from 1942 through to 1944, but predominantly in 1943.
