Product Information

This is a fascinating WWII K98 bayonet and scabbard with its original leather frog. The bayonet has clearly been damaged in battle and has suffered considerable impact(s) to the blade. The forces involved in distorting the blade must have come from an explosion, so much so that there is a melted blob of metal on the blade. Even more intruding is that this had to have happened whilst the bayonet was removed from its scabbard, however the scabbard is the original and is matching numbers and maker to the bayonet; WKC - Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co, 1940 serial number 6147. The leather frog is original to the set and is maker marked Poeschl Rohrbach, 1942.

The family who discovered said that it was brought back by after WWII as a war trophy.
