This is an early WWII German MP40 magazine. It was made by Steyr in 1940 who used secret makers code 98E and stamped with acceptance codes WaA815 and WaA387. When this magazine was converted from a slab sided to the ribbed type the WaA387 acceptance stamps were added to indicate this. Note the ribbing stops before reaching the reinforcing at the top.
