This is an original WWII RA35 panoramic sight for the German 81mm Mortar model 34 "Granatwerfer 34" (s.Gr.W.34) that was the standard German heavy infantry mortar of WW2. This example has its original storage container that has been numbered by the unit it was issued to; number 8. The makers code on the sight is "bvu" - Kuhlmann, Franz, Werkstaetten fuer Praezisionsnmechanik u. Maschinenbau, Hauptwerke Wilhelmshaven. The mount, sight and container are all Nazi Waffenamt stamped. As with all German made optical devises, it is manufactured to the highest quality and is still in good working order.
