Product Information

An Enfield manufactured Martini Henry MKII Artillery Carbine. Dated 1875 it is chambered in .577/450. it is a breech-loading lever-actuated carbine. This carbine started life as a MKI and was later upgraded to a MKII. The majority of MKI's were, an once the upgrade was completed the MKI had an extra 'I' roman numeral added to the right of the original one. The Martini was used during the Zulu War and most famously at the Battle of Rorke's Drift in 1879, when against seemingly overwhelming odds around 150 British and colonial troops successfully defended the garrison against an intense assault by 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors.

This example has the regiment abbreviation "6.02 B 11" meaning June 1902, B?  weapon number 11. On the other side are the initials "8 A X" which we believed to represent the "8th Axillary battalion".

Chambered in an obsolete calibre this historic carbine can be owned live without any form of license. It has a full working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. It is not deactivated in any way and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
