Product Information

An original First World War Issued German Reichs Revolver with matching numbers. Manufactured by three contractors the Suhl Consortium (V.C. Schilling and C.G. Haenel of Suhl), who only produced 22,296 (about 17%) of Reich revolvers .The M1879 Reichs revolver, or Reichs-Commissions-revolver Modell 1879, was the standard service revolver used by the German Army from 1879 to 1908, before the PO8 Luger was adopted replacing it. These large revolvers were extremely robust and chamber a mighty 10.6mm round. Often favoured by front line troops on trench raids as it was far less prone to stoppages (unlike the Luger) and had formidable stopping power. They were used throughout WWI and even WWII, Luftwaffe pilots were known to use them.

This example has been issued twice. The first set of regimental marking that have been struck out are; " B.1.A.F.M.III.9.1." this is believed to be an abbreviation for the Bavarian 1st Regiment, Artillery Munition Transport Column , 9th Company, weapon number 1.

When it was reissued it was reassigned to the "B.A.M.III.4.8." which we believe to be an abbreviation for; "Brieftauben-Abteilung Metz" , meaning Carrier Pigeon Section, Metz (code name for bombing section). Any German air force or "Deutsche Luftstreitkrafte" markings are incredible rare and seldom seen.

Chambered in an obsolete calibre (10.6mm) it can be owned live without any form of license. The bore and cylinders are both in good condition. It can be cocked, fully stripped and dry fired. The action is still super crisp and tight.

It is not deactivated in any way and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
