Product Information

This is a very rare Japanese contract, Smith & Wesson .44 Russian, model No3 revolver, circa early 1890s. This is from the first batch of only 275 revolvers ordered by the Japanese Government from S&W. The serial number range for this batch was from 5426 to 5701. This is number 5510, the 84th revolver from that batch! The frame is marked with the Japanese Navy stamp; an anchor with two wavy lines. The right hand grip has what appears to be Japanese characters or initials carved in them and the other one has three lines cut in them. This may signify three confirmed kills! The revolver has remained all matching numbers with the bore and cylinders still in great condition. It has strong rifling and a shiny bore. The action is still firm, tight and crisp, and the finish is original too. This is a very desirable and sought after S&W revolver.

These revolvers were seen in the hands of Japanese officers on Guadalcanal early in 1943 when US Marines captured and took control of the island.

Chambered in S&W .44 Russian obsolete calibre this antique revolver can be owned live without any form of license. It has a full working action.

It is not deactivated in any way and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
