Product Information

An Enfield Martini Henry MKIV 1 under lever rifle dated 1887 and chambered in the mighty .577/450. War department (WD) and broad arrow stamps to all parts. This example is marked "R.P 3 over 1908". This is an abbreviation for the Regimental Police of the 3rd Regiment 1908. It also has the Madras Arsenal with Arabic or Sanskrit characters and various other issue markings. Although the Mark IV was produced from 1888 to 1889, some examples are seen with 1886 and 1887 dates. The reason for these early dates is that these weapons were converted from early Enfield-Martini Mark I's. This rifle being one of them. It would have been re-assigned to British Colonial forces with introduction the new bolt action rifle. Only British forces got the latest weapons!!!

Martini rifles, like this one are being captured and brought back from Afghanistan where many are still in use by the Taliban today.

The bore on this one is still in great condition with good strong rifling throughout, and the action is crisp and smooth. It has a full working action.

This lovely rifle is chambered in an obsolete calibre and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.

It comes with and original 1887 Pattern Bayonet & Scabbard, genuine and correct leather sling, cleaning rod and inert .577/450 round. A great set.
