This is a rare British manufactured Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver chambered in .36. Colt, London was the only other manufacturer to produced this model outside of the US. They were only made from 1853 to 1857 making just 42,910 revolvers. Serial numbers ran from 1 to 42,910. This example in number 33,278 and according to Colts own official website it dates to 1853. These revolvers bear British proof stamps (crown over CP & crown over V ) and have the barrel address of ; ADDRESS COL. COLT. LONDON. This example is all matching numbers, including the wedge and loading arm, and is in original condition.

The model 1851 was a popular private purchase by British officers during this period and were used by them during the Crimean War. They were also purchased by the British Police, Armies & Navies. Small quantities within the build were custom orders. They were also used in America during the US Civil War. A rarely seen British made Colt.

Chambered in an antique obsolete calibre it can be owned live without any form of license. It has a good condition bore and full working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
